The Ruta 5 , according to Grail. Bernardino Caballero is a trunk road in Paraguay . The road runs as an east-west connection through the Gran Chaco from Pozo Colorado to Pedro Juan Cabellero to the border with Brazil . It is 355 kilometers long.
Street description
The Ruta 5 begins in Pozo Colorado at an intersection with the Ruta 9 in northern Paraguay. The road runs due east through the Gran Chaco. The environment consists of dry areas with a mixture of meadows, scattered trees and low afforestation. There are no villages for the first 150 kilometers to the town of Concepción , the main town on the route. The road crosses the Paraguay River over a bridge; then the road goes 40 kilometers east to Horqueta. At Horqueta , Ruta 5 then continues in a north-easterly direction. Then it's about 160 kilometers to Pedro Juan Caballero. At Yby Yaú, the road runs on the same route as Ruta 3 . In the border town of Pedro Juan Caballero , a short section with two lanes with two lanes each has been developed. On the Brazilian side, the road continues as BR-463 to Dourados .

The Ruta 5 has always been the most important east-west connection in northern Paraguay. It is one of the few streets in northern Paraguay that is paved. It is paved along its entire length. The bridge over the Paraguay River near Concepción was opened around 1988.
