Ponta Porã , officially Portuguese Município de Ponta Porã , is a city in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul . The population was estimated on July 1, 2019 at 92,526 inhabitants, who are called Ponta-Poranenses ( ponta-poranenses ) on a community area of around 5330.4 km² . It ranks 5th out of 79 municipalities in the state. Portunhol is also spoken in Ponta Porã .

The city is located 324 km from the capital of the state ( Campo Grande ) and 1326 km from the state capital ( Brasília ). The city borders in the north on the neighboring cities Antônio João , Bela Vista , Jardim and Guia Lopes da Laguna , in the south on Aral Moreira and Laguna Carapã , in the east on Dourados and Maracaju and in the west on Pedro Juan Caballero ( Paraguay ).
