Laguna Carapã , officially Município de Laguna Carapã , is a city in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul in the south-west mesoregion in the Dourados microregion . The municipality is also called the city of fish .
history
The district was assigned to the municipality of Ponta Porã on November 20, 1948 under State Law No. 1163 . In 1977, the region became the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The city was extradited from the municipality of Ponta Pora by Law No. 1261 of April 22, 1992.
origin of the name
The name is derived from the name Lagoa Torta , a name from the Guariní language for large pond .

location
The city is located 288 km from the capital of the state ( Campo Grande ) and 1304 km from the state capital ( Brasília ). The city borders on the neighboring cities of Dourados , Aral Moreira , Amambai , Caarapó and Ponta Porã.

The city has a subtropical mountain climate ( CWA ). The minimum temperature is around 10 ° C, the average temperature is 20–24 ° C and a maximum of 35 ° C can be achieved. The annual amount of precipitation is 1500–1600 mm.
