Bataguassu , officially Município de Bataguassu , is a city in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul in the mesoregion east in the microregion Nova Andradina . The city was founded by the Czech shoe entrepreneur Jan Antonín Baťa , who fled to Brazil from National Socialism .

The city is 330 km from the capital of the state ( Campo Grande ) and 1061 km from the state capital ( Brasília ). Neighboring cities are Anaurilândia , Santa Rita do Pardo , Brasilândia and Presidente Epitácio .
