Coxim , officially Portuguese Município de Coxim , is a city in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul . The place is also called the capital of fish and annually attracts thousands of tourists who come to fish.
The population was estimated as of July 1, 2019 at 33,543 inhabitants, who live on a large community area of around 6409.2 km² and are called Coxinens ( coxinenses ). The calculated population density is 5 inhabitants per km². The parish ranks 13th out of the state's 79 municipalities.

The city is 245 km from Campo Grande , the capital of the state and 982 km from the state capital, Brasília . Neighboring cities are Corumbá , Sonora , Pedro Gomes , Alcinópolis , Camapuã , São Gabriel do Oeste and Rio Verde de Mato Grosso .
