Caarapó , officially Município de Caarapó , is a city in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul in the south-west mesoregion in the Dourados microregion . The city is also called Vale da Esperança - Valley of Hope.

origin of the name

Caarapó is a word from the Guaraní language and means root of yerba mate .

The city is located 267 km from the capital of the state ( Campo Grande ) and 1401 km from the state capital ( Brasília ).

The city has a tropical climate ( AW ).

The city is located about 100 km north of the Río Paraná , which belongs to the river system of the Río de la Plata .
