Nova Alvorada do Sul , officially Município de Nova Alvorada do Sul , is a city in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul in the south-west mesoregion in the Dourados microregion .
history
For many years Nova Alvorada do Sul was known as Entroncamento (junction) because the city is at the meeting point of several transport routes and cultures.
In 1976 the settlement was still a district of Rio Brilhante. In 1991 it was spun off as an independent municipality.
geography
location
The city is 120 km from the capital of the state ( Campo Grande ) and 1139 km from the state capital ( Brasília ). The city borders on the neighboring cities of Rio Brilhante , Sidrolândia , Campo Grande, Ribas do Rio Pardo , Nova Andradina and Angélica .
climate
The city has a tropical climate ( AW ) with high rainfall in summer and dry winters. The average temperature in the coldest month is between 14 ° and 15 °. The precipitation varies between 1,500 mm and 1,700 mm per year.
Waters
The city lies on the Rio Brilhante , which belongs to the river system of the Río de la Plata .
