The OSTERLAND to ELSTERBERG were tender locomotives of the Saxon-Thuringian Railway for mixed service.

history

The Saxon-Thuringian Railway opened its line from Wolfsfahrzeugth via Wünschendorf , Greiz and Plauen to Weischlitz in 1875 . She had eight 1-B mixed-train locomotives built by Schichau in Elbing for operation .

On the Saxon-Thuringian Railway, the locomotives only had names. In July 1876 the railway was taken over by the Royal Saxon State Railways . There the locomotives were given the numbers 663 to 670 and mostly also new names. They were listed as genus Schi III or Sch III , from 1885 as Sch (i) II .

In 1892 they were given the new company numbers 705 to 712 and from 1896 the category II . In 1900 the company numbers were increased by 2000 to 2705 to 2712.

The number 2705 was the first machine to be eliminated in 1914. In the preliminary re-drawing plan of the Deutsche Reichsbahn , the numbers 98 7311 to 7316 were planned for six locomotives.

The final redrawing plan from 1925 still recorded the 2710 as 98 7311 and the 2711 as 98 7312. However, neither of the two locomotives was redrawn, and around 1925 they were retired.

technical features

They had a kettle with a continuous upper edge of a standing and long kettle. The long boiler consisted of four shots. On the first, just behind the chimney, sat the steam dome with a safety valve, on the second a sandpit. All axes were firmly mounted in the frame.

The horizontal outer cylinders worked on the first coupling axis. The locomotives had an internal control of the Allan type and a small driver's cab. There was no braking device on the locomotives themselves, only the tenders had a handbrake.
