Säkylä [ ˈsækylæ ] is a municipality with 6,811 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) in south-western Finland . It is located about 200 kilometers northwest of the capital Helsinki on the eastern shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi in the landscape Satakunta . Around a quarter of the municipal area is taken up by inland waters.

On January 1, 2016, Köyliö was incorporated into Säkylä.
The municipality of Säkylä has existed since 1869 and includes the places Uusikylä, Iso-Säkylä, Korpi, Löytäne, Pyhäjoki, Vähä-Säkylä, Huovinrinne, Iso- Vimma, Karhusuo, Sydänmaa and Moisio. Since the incorporation of Köyliös, the villages of Köyliö Ehtamo, Hankaankorpi, Huhti, Järvenpää, Kankaanpää, Karhia, Kepola, Köyliönsaari, Lahenenkylä, Pajula, Pehula, Puolimatka, Tuiskula, Tuohiniemi, Vusylimaäinen, Tuohiniemi, Uusylmaäinen, Vusylmaäinen, Vuohiniemi, Uusylmaäinen belong to the municipality Säkylä.

The food industry is of great importance, especially the plants of the companies Apetit (formerly Lännen Tehtaat ) and HKScan (formerly HK Ruokatalo ).
The barracks in the district of Huovinrinne is the location of the Finnish rapid intervention force, which is composed of volunteer reservists and permanent staff of the "Pori Brigade" ( Porin Prikaati ) ( Finnish Rapid Deployment Force ; Finnish : Suomen Kansainvälinen Valmiusjoukko ). Porin prikaati is one of the most traditional Finnish armed forces . The flag predecessor of the unit, Björneborgs läns infanteriregemente , was founded on February 16, 1626 by Gustav II Adolf .
