Siikainen [ ˈsiːkɑi̯nen ] is a municipality with 1,458 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018) in western Finland .
It is located in the coastal hinterland of the Satakunta landscape . To the east the terrain rises to the moraine ridge of the Suomenselkä . Large parts of the municipal area are forested or swampy; These terrain conditions are at least appreciated by the Finnish rally drivers, who use one of their most popular test tracks here all year round.
The district has been part of the Merikarvia parish since the Middle Ages and has existed as an independent parish since 1771, as a political municipality since 1886. In addition to the parish village of Siikainen, it includes the villages of Haapakoski, Hirvijärvi, Leppijärvi, Leväsjoki, Nauriskoski, Osara, Otamo, Petkele, Pyntäinen, Saarikoskiinen , Sammi, Samminmaja and Vuorijärvi. The wooden parish church was built from 1888 to 1889 according to plans by KA Reinius after the previous building burned down after a lightning strike.
