The monastery Säusenstein was by Eberhard III. founded by Wallsee and his wife Anna von Losenstein. Eberhard III. was governor and judge of Austria ob der Enns (old name for Upper Austria ). Both were buried there after her death.

Legend

According to the widespread legend, the devil was so angry with the pious citizens of Säusenstein that he tore out a boulder from Tabor (today Kirchenberg) and shot it at the monastery. By God's hand, this rock fell into the Danube, where you can still find the monastery spheres, which have broken in half. Hence the name Säusenstein (rustling stone). (Oral tradition.)
