Sérgio Ricardo da Silva Pinto (born October 16, 1980 in Vila Nova de Gaia ), also known as Sérgio Pinto , is a former German - Portuguese football player .

Born in Portugal, he played 212 Bundesliga games in which he scored 26 goals. He also played in the Spanish La Liga for UD Levante .

Life

Da Silva Pinto was born in Portugal in Vila Nova de Gaia and spent his childhood and early youth there. When he was twelve years old, he moved to Germany with his parents and settled in Haltern am See in North Rhine-Westphalia ; at first he didn't speak any German .

Pinto is married and has two children.

Career

youth

In Portugal he played in the youth team of FC Porto . After his arrival in Haltern he received an offer from FC Schalke 04 , but preferred to play at TuS Haltern for the time being due to the distance between Haltern and Gelsenkirchen and because of the language problems . In 1995 he finally moved to the Schalke B youth team.

professional

FC Schalke 04

After four years in the youth team of FC Schalke 04, da Silva Pinto made the leap to the professional team in 1999, where he played 23 Bundesliga games for Schalke and four games in the UEFA Cup by 2004 .

Alemannia Aachen

Before the 2004/05 season , da Silva Pinto moved on loan to Alemannia Aachen in the 2nd Bundesliga . His goal for the season was promotion to the first Bundesliga . He made his debut for Alemannia on August 13, 2004 in a 1-1 draw on the first day of the 2. Bundesliga 2004/05 in the game against LR Ahlen in the starting eleven. Da Silva Pinto himself attributed his increase in performance not least to the coach Mirko Slomka , who placed him in the central defensive midfield , but granted great freedom of attack and strengthened it with great confidence.
