Sílvia Soler Espinosa (born November 19, 1987 in Elche ) is a Spanish tennis player .

Career

Soler Espinosa, who, according to the player profile, prefers clay courts, was in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in 2011 after qualifying . She won her first round match at the French Open against Jelena Wesnina with 4: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 4 and then failed at the eventual tournament winner Li Na .

In 2012, she was able to qualify for both the Australian Open (already eliminated in the opening round) and the US Open (third round). In the course of the year she improved to position 54 in the individual world rankings .

In 2013, Soler Espinosa made a name for itself, especially in doubles. At the side of her compatriot Carla Suárez Navarro , she was in Melbourne for the first time in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament, in Wimbledon they reached the second round. After her good performance at the WTA tournament in New Haven (entry into the semi-finals), Soler Espinosa made a jump into the top 50 of the double world rankings. She celebrated her first WTA double title in 2014 at the Connecticut Open in New Haven.

Since 2012, Soler Espinosa has played 15 games for the Spanish Fed Cup team , of which they could only win four; their doubles games were both lost.
