The SIAI-Marchetti SM.102 was a twin-engine airliner manufactured by SIAI-Marchetti .
history
After the failure with the SM.101, SIAI concentrated its efforts on a two-engine variant of the SM.102, the prototype, which flew for the first time on February 24, 1949, showed promise. It was a cantilever low-wing aircraft with interpolated lines. The crew consisted of two people and up to eight passengers in the passenger cabin. The SM.102 had two Ranger SGV-770C-1 b V engines with 500 HP each. The prototype was demonstrated and exhibited in India, the Middle and Far East without the desired success. SIAI decided to change the concept into a light transport aircraft for the Regia Aeronautica . The new version was equipped with two 450 hp Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior radial engines and flew for the first time on April 7, 1950. The machine went into small series for the Regia Aeronautica.

The SM.102 was a twin-engined low-wing aircraft with a retractable landing gear. It had a closed cockpit, the two pilots sat on two seats next to each other, the passenger cabin offered space for up to eight passengers. The prototype was powered by two Ranger-SGV-770-C-1-b engines with 500 hp each. The military version of the SIAI SM.102 was powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior radial engines with 450 HP each and was only used as a light transport aircraft.
