The 1957/58 season was the 27th season of the Finnish SM-sarja . Champion was Ilves Tampere for the eleventh time in the club's history . Vesa Helsinki and Jymy-Kiekko Kokkola relegated to the 2nd division.

The main round was held in two groups of five teams each. The first two in the group qualified for the championship final. The two runners-up met in the game for third place. The last placed in each group were relegated to the 2nd division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
