Saasen is a part of the community of Neuenstein in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse . The place is located on the Geisbach in the eastern part of the Knüllgebirge .

history

Saasen was first mentioned as locus Sahson in 1100 when the village was handed over to the Hersfeld monastery . Accordingly, Saasen was settled earlier.

On the northern outskirts of the village, directly on the A 7, is the castle Neuenstein , first mentioned in 1267 as Neuwallenstein , which was built by the lords of the castle Wallenstein located about 5 km northwest .

On December 31, 1971, Saasen was incorporated into the new community of Neuenstein.

Through the village leading state road 3155. The A 7 runs north-east of the town. Local public transport is provided by RKH Bus GmbH on line 370.
