Aua is a district of the community of Neuenstein in the eastern Hessian district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg . The place is located in Geistal in the Knüll Mountains and is the seat of the Neuenstein municipal administration .

Aua is located directly on the A 7 , which leads past the village to the west. The Bad Hersfeld-West junction is on the southern outskirts . In the village, the state roads 3153 and 3155 meet with the federal road 324 . Local public transport is provided by RKH Bus GmbH on line 370.

history

The place is first mentioned in the year 852, under the place name Owe . 1190 was the Hersfeld Abbey , a convent of Augustinian nuns founded, but which even in 1229 after Blankenheim was moved. The Protestant church is the former monastery church of this monastery .

On December 31, 1971, Aua was incorporated into the new community of Neuenstein.
