Mühlbach is a part of the community of Neuenstein in the eastern Hessian district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg .

The place is in the Knüllgebirge on the Geisbach .

history

Mühlbach is first mentioned in 1100, when the village was donated to the Hersfeld Abbey. Soon after 1190 the place was donated to the Hersfeld daughter monastery Aua (later, after its move in 1229, Blankenheim monastery ). In 1194 the chapel in Mühlbach was transferred from the Hersfeld Abbey to the Aue Monastery; it was later expanded into a Protestant church .

On December 31, 1971, Mühlbach was incorporated into the new community of Neuenstein.
