Raboldshausen is a part of the community of Neuenstein in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse .

Geographical location

The place is in the Knüllgebirge on the upper reaches of the Geisbach . The Eisenberg rises about 3 km south of the village , at 635.5  m above sea level. NN the highest mountain of the Knüllgebirge. Landesstraße 3155 runs through Raboldshausen. Local public transport is provided by RKH Bus GmbH on line 370. Neighboring towns are Salzberg in the southwest and Saasen in the east.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1224 as "Rabenshusen". As early as 1585 the village belonged to the Neuenstein court. Raboldshausen came to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel in 1745 and became the center of the Raboldshausen office . After the dissolution of the office in 1821, there was still a court of first instance, the Raboldshausen justice office , until it was repealed in 1867.

The Protestant parish church was built in 1791. The wall tombs of those of Wallenstein are worth seeing .

The village of Holnstein , which fell desolate around 1400, was located on a forest meadow about 1.7 km southeast of the village on the southern slope of the Holnsteinkopf . The foundation walls of his village church, excavated in 1936, were re-mortared in 1999. Nearby is an atonement cross from the late Middle Ages that has nothing to do with the abandoned village of Holnstein.

At 31 December 1971 Raboldshausen was incorporated into the new community New stone and county Fritzlar-Homberg to Hersfeld transferred.
