Sabine Kurtz

Sabine Kurtz (born August 8, 1961 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a German politician ( CDU ). She has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the constituency of Leonberg-Herrenberg-Weil since 2006 and has been vice-president of the state parliament since April 25, 2018 .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in Bad Hersfeld, Sabine Kurtz studied political science , German and Romance studies in Freiburg . During her studies she worked as a native speaker assistant in Strasbourg for a year . After the exams, an internship in an agency for press and public relations followed from 1987 to 1989. From 1989 to 1990 she worked as an adviser to the state parliament member Franz Longin . From 1991 to 1992 and in the period from 1998 to 2002 she acted as a parliamentary advisor to the CDU parliamentary group in Baden-Württemberg. In between, she worked from 1993 to 1997 as a research assistant to the Bundestag member Hans-Peter Repnik . From 2002 to 2006 she worked as a consultant in the State Ministry .

Political activity

Sabine Kurtz joined the CDU in 1990. From 2003 to 2017 she was chairwoman of the CDU city association Leonberg and has been a member of the board of the CDU parliamentary group since 2011. From 2012 to 2018 she was the state chairwoman of the Evangelical Working Group (EAK) of the CDU Baden-Württemberg and has been the deputy federal chairwoman of the EAK since 2015 .

She was elected in the 2006 and 2011 state elections through the direct mandate for the Leonberg state electoral district. In the election on March 13, 2016, she lost her direct mandate to the Greens, but was given a second mandate by the CDU for the 16th legislative period in the Stuttgart parliament.

From 2006 to 2011 she was the youth policy spokeswoman for the CDU parliamentary group. Since 2006 she has been a full member of the committees for culture, youth and sport as well as for science, research and art. From 2013 until her election as vice-president of the state parliament, Sabine Kurtz was the chair of the "Science, Research and Art" working group of the CDU state parliamentary group, spokeswoman for the CDU state parliamentary group for science, research and the arts and a member of the CDU parliamentary group executive committee. Since March 2017 she has also been chair of the "Zulagen Ludwigsburg" investigative committee. Sabine Kurtz has been Vice President of the Baden-Württemberg State Parliament since April 25, 2018; She was only elected in the second ballot, as MPs from her coalition partner, the Greens, refused to vote because of misleading statements by her about homosexuality. At the same time she became spokeswoman for the group for early childhood education. She has been spokesperson for church politics since 2019.
