Sabine Wienker-Piepho (born October 9, 1946 in Göttingen ) is a German folklorist and literary scholar .

Career

Sabine Wienker-Piepho studied from 1967 at the universities of Freiburg and Göttingen initially German , history , political science and American studies . She completed most of her academic training in Freiburg.

In her second degree in folklore, she did her doctorate in 1987 in Freiburg with Lutz Röhrich as a folklore narrative researcher on female folk heroes.

Since then she has represented professorships for European ethnology , folklore and art history in Augsburg and Bayreuth , held visiting professorships at the universities of Jyväskylä (Finland), Minsk (Belarus), Tartu (Estonia) and before moving to Jena in 2008 and Münster in 2009 , Head of the Institute for German and Comparative Folklore at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , until 2014 ienes von Jena. From 2015 additional teaching positions in Freiburg, Bamberg and Zurich, and until 2020 also in Jena. Her main research interests lie in folklore narratology ( fairy tales , sagas , songs , swank , proverbs and jokes ), the “ time concepts ” and “ homo ludens ”.

Wienker-Piepho has been a member of the citizens' initiative Pro Kulturhauptstadt Freiburg since 2011 .

Since 2018 isie has been President of the Commission for Narrative Research in the German Society for Folklore (DGV)
