Saint-Florent-des-Bois is a former French commune with 2,820 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belonged to the arrondissement of La Roche-sur-Yon and the canton of La Roche-sur-Yon-2 (until 2015: canton of La Roche-sur-Yon-Sud ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Florentais .
With effect from January 1, 2016, Saint-Florent-des-Bois was merged with Chaillé-sous-les-Ormeaux to form the Commune nouvelle Rives de l'Yon .
geography
Saint-Florent-des-Bois is eleven kilometers southeast of La Roche-sur-Yon . The Yon River forms the western boundary, the Marillet the eastern boundary . Saint-Florent-des-Bois is surrounded by the neighboring towns of La Roche-sur-Yon in the north and north-west, La Chaize-le-Vicomte in the north-east, Thorigny in the east, Château-Guibert in the south and south-east, Le Tablier in the south and south-west , Chaillé-sous-les-Ormeaux in the southwest and Nesmy in the west.
