Location of the (Салда́) as a tributary of the Tagil (Таги́л) in the catchment area of the Tura |
The Salda ( Russian Салда́ ) is a 122 km long right tributary of the Tagil in Siberia ( Russia , Asia ). It should not be confused with the tributary of the same name, the Salda of the Tura, which flows a little to the north .
course
The Salda rises at a height of about 280 m on the eastern flank of the Middle Urals , about 20 kilometers southeast of the city of Nizhny Tagil . It flows in northeastern directions, always on the territory of Sverdlovsk Oblast , by designated after the river cities Verkhnyaya Salda and nizhnyaya salda (translated upper and Untersalda ). The river finally flows into the Tagil at the village of Medvedevo , about 30 kilometers northeast of Nizhnyaya Salda (at an altitude of 108 m ). Near the mouth, the Salda is about 50 meters wide, almost a meter deep and the flow velocity is 0.5 m / s.
Hydrography
The catchment area of the Salda covers 1770 km². The most important tributary is the Issa river from the left.
The Salda freezes between late October to early November and April. The mean monthly water flow near the mouth is 7.2 m³ / s.
Infrastructure and economy
The Salda is not navigable. In the cities of Verkhnyaya and Nizhnyaya Salda, small reservoirs (“ponds”) were built on the river to supply the ironworks built there at the end of the 18th century; another a little upstream on the Issa stream not far from its mouth.
Infrastructural development of the river basin is relatively good, especially in the central reaches around the cities of Verkhnyaya and Nizhnyaya Salda. At Nizhnyaya Salda the railway line and the Nizhny Tagil– Alapayevsk road cross the river.
