Collection Haupt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Haupt collection under the title "Thirty Silver Plates - Art and Money" is a private thematic collection of contemporary art by the lawyer Stefan Haupt based in Berlin. The collection is dedicated to the topic of money art in all media. It is made available to the public in changing exhibitions in national museums and art halls as well as in the offices of Haupt Rechtsanwälte after prior notification.

Since October 2016, selected works from the collection have been presented in the bi-monthly Stiftung & Sponsoring magazine.

Emergence

Initially committed to the medium of photography , Stefan Haupt turned to the art of money in the mid-1990s, inspired by an origami sculpture by the Taiwanese artist Lee Mingwei, who lives in New York . In the years to come, this inspiration became the focus of the collection through visits to trade fairs and galleries, as well as research on the Internet.

“For the art collector Stefan Haupt, the fascination of money lies in the fact that - besides sex and death - it is one of the phenomena that one does not talk about, although it is one of the determining factors of human existence. (...) "

- Uta Tackenberg, November 2005
