The joint municipality of Rethem (Aller) is a joint municipality in the Heidekreis district in Lower Saxony . Four municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat of the joint municipality is located in the city of Rethem . The combined community is a member of the Aller-Leine-Tal association .

In the course of the regional reform in 1974, the combined municipality of Rethem / Aller was created.

Joint council

The council of the integrated community of Rethem (Aller) consists of 14 councilors and councilors. This is the specified number for a municipality with a population between 3,001 and 5,000 inhabitants. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2011 and ends on October 31, 2016.

Cort-Brün Voige (CDU) has been the full-time joint mayor of the joint community of Rethem (Aller) since 2006. In the last mayoral election on May 25, 2014, he was elected as incumbent with 53.6% of the vote. His opponent Hannelore Hunter-Roßmann received 46.4%. The turnout was 57.9%. Voige began his further term on November 1, 2014.
