The joint municipality of Ahlden is a joint municipality in the district of Heidekreis in Lower Saxony . Five municipalities have come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat of the joint municipality is in Hodenhagen .

Geographical location
The joint municipality of Ahlden is centrally located in the triangle of the major cities Bremen - Hamburg - Hanover . The A 7 and A 27 motorways can be reached via the Westenholz driveway at the Walsrode motorway triangle . The joint community of Ahlden is located in the Aller-Leine valley .

history
The integrated community was founded on March 1, 1974 through the regional reform of the state of Lower Saxony .
politics
Joint council
The council of the joint municipality of Ahlden consists of 18 council women and councilors. This is the specified number for a municipality with a population between 6,001 and 7,000. The 18 council members are elected by local elections for five years each. The current term of office began on November 1, 2011 and ends on October 31, 2016.
The full-time mayor of the joint municipality is also entitled to vote in the council of the joint municipality.
The last local election on September 11, 2011 resulted in the following:
- SPD : 8 seats (43.8%)
- CDU : 7 seats (40.4%)
- Voluntary Independent Voting Association (FUWG) : 3 seats (15.8%)
Joint mayor of the municipality
The joint municipality mayor is the third body of the joint municipality with important, independent decision-making powers , alongside the joint municipality council and the joint municipality committee. He is the head of the joint municipality administration, executes the decisions of the other organs and represents the joint municipality externally. So he is also a representative of the Ahlden community.
The full-time mayor of the joint municipality of Ahlden has been Heinz-Günter Klöpper (SPD) since 2006. In the last mayoral election on May 25, 2014, he was re-elected as incumbent with 51.0% of the vote. His opponent Carsten Niemann (CDU) received 49.0%. The turnout was 52.5%. Klöpper took up his further term on November 1, 2014 and held the office until his death on April 9, 2016.
On September 11, 2016, Carsten Niemann (non-party) was elected as a single applicant with 78.1% of the votes as mayor of the entire municipality.
