San Juan is a province in the Dominican Republic . On the northern edge of the province on the border with the province of Santiago is the highest mountain in the Caribbean, the 3098 m high Pico Duarte . The capital of the province of San Juan is San Juan de la Maguana .

economy

The main industry is agriculture. This province is not developed for tourism. There are plans to build an expressway through the mountains of the Cordillera Central within the next few years (according to the plan by 2017) to connect San Juan de la Maguana with Santiago de los Caballeros , the second largest Dominican city.
