Sarah Drew (born October 1, 1980 in Stony Brook , New York ) is an American actress .

Youth, education, early career

Drew was born in Stony Brook to a pastor and biology teacher. There she grew up and attended the private Christian Stony Brook School . She began to be interested in acting while she was still at school. After high school, she studied acting at the University of Virginia , graduating in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts . She made her professional stage debut in 2001 in Romeo and Juliet at the McCarter Theater in Princeton , New Jersey and in 2003 she appeared in Vincent in Brixton for the first time on Broadway and later also in London's West End .

Career in film and television

She was best known for her role in Everwood as Hannah Rogers. In 2002 she graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in theater. From 2009 to 2018 she played the role of Dr. April Kepner in the US hospital series Grey's Anatomy , from which she dropped out at the end of season 14, 2018.

Private

Sarah Drew is the great cousin of Benjamin McKenzie , who became famous for the series OC, California . In June 2002 she married Peter Lanfer . The couple has two children, a son (* January 2012) and a daughter (* December 2014).
