Saraydüzü is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the Turkish province of Sinop . The place is about 80 kilometers south of the provincial capital Sinop . According to the city seal, the place was raised to a Belediye (municipality) in 1990 .

The district is located in the south of the province. It is bordered by Boyabat County to the north, Durağan County to the east, Samsun Province to the south-east and Amasya Province to the south-west . The D785 road from Gerze to Kargı (132 km) runs through the city and the district . The eastern border to the province of Samsun follows the Kızılırmak river , which is dammed here to the Boyabat Barajı . In the north rises the Asarcık Çayı , which flows further north into the Gökırmak , a tributary of the Kızılırmak. The eastern foothills of the Ilgaz Dağları Mountains extend into the district .

The district was split off from the southern part of Boyabat district in 1990 and was a separate Bucak there until then . In the last census before the change of area (1985) the Bucak Saraydüzü had a population of 9,411 inhabitants, this corresponds to about 15.6% of the then district population (of 60,470 inhabitants).

At the end of 2018, the district included the district town and 30 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 186 residents. The population ranged from 425 ( Çorman ) down to 58 ( Asarcıkkazaklı ). 15 of the villages had more than 186 (= average) inhabitants. The district had a population density of 20.3 inh. Per km², the urban population was only 17.57 percent.
