Sasha (born September 4, 1969 in Bangor , Wales ; real name Alexander Paul Coe ) is a Welsh DJ and music producer specializing in progressive trance and house music .

Sasha grew up with his mother in the Welsh village of Hawarden . At the age of 17 he passed the entrance exams for Epsom College , which he left before he reached the advanced level . Instead, he moved to Bangor to live with his father and stepmother.

Sasha first came into contact with electronic dance music in 1988 at the Haçienda in Manchester . Soon after, he bought his first acid house records and taught himself to mix. Soon he had his first DJ bookings in the Haçienda. In 1993 he released Together , his first single under the pseudonym Sasha.

In 1993 he also met John Digweed , with whom he often hung up in the following years. They toured together and released several compilations. A highlight was their Delta Heavy Tour 2002 in the United States . They played in 31 cities and in front of around 85,000 people.

In 2002 Sasha worked with Junkie XL on their single, Breezer . Junkie XL, along with Charlie May , also supported Sasha on his debut album, Airdrawndagger . After the release of his album, he signed the young DJ James Zabiela . He also toured the United States with him.

Sasha was consistently in the top 10 of the Top 100 DJs by DJ Mag from 1997 to 2008 and won the election in 2000. In 2009 he came in 13th place. Sasha received a Grammy nomination for his remix of Felix da Housecats Watching Cars Go By .
