Descendants of Mayer Amschel Rothschild
The Frankfurt banking dynasty Rothschild ruled the European financial market in the 19th century. Its founder was Mayer Amschel Rothschild . His five sons were ennobled in 1817 and raised to the status of Austrian baron in 1822. They founded important branches of this dynasty in foreign metropolises.

Rothschild's first child was a daughter, Schönche Jeanette. She married the banker Benedikt Moses Worms in 1795 and had a son with him, Salomon Benedikt. Your great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter, Bettina Rheims , is a well-known photographer today.

Vienna branch: descendants of Salomon Rothschild
While Rothschild's eldest son, Amschel Mayer Rothschild , took over his father’s parent company in Frankfurt, the second son, Salomon, founded the Dépendance SM v. Rothschild in Austria. Salomon and his wife Caroline had two children, Anselm and Betty. Betty married her Parisian uncle James at the age of 19 and Anselm married his London niece Charlotte at 23. Anselm and Charlotte had two daughters, both of whom were married to Naples cousins, and a son, Nathaniel Meyer, who remained childless.

London Branch: Descendants of Nathan Mayer Rothschild
Rothschild's son Nathan went to England, first to Manchester , then to London . The banking house he founded, NM Rothschild & Sons , still exists today. Nathan married Hannah Barent Cohen in 1806, with whom he had seven children (four sons and three daughters). With the exception of Hanna Mayer, all of the children in the family married. Nathan's grandson of the same name became First Baron Rothschild.

Kalman, who later called himself Carl Mayer Rothschild, opened the Rothschild banking house in Naples C.M. de Rothschild e figli . With his wife Adelheid he had a daughter and four sons. They married within the family. Mayer Carl and Wilhelm Carl took over the management of the Frankfurt house in 1855, the middle son Adolph managed the branch in Naples until it closed in 1863.
