Neckar Open 2006

history

The club was founded on May 11, 1948 by seventeen chess friends in a restaurant in Deizisau. In 1952 the club managed to set up its own youth team. 1957 Deizisau was district champion and rose to the district class. In the 1970s, the club had great livelihood problems, because in 1970 the club only had 13, mostly older, members. Deizisau invested in youth work to rejuvenate and expand the association. Thanks to the members gained in this way, gaming operations could be maintained. In terms of sport, the club was still not successful in the 1970s and 1980s. Several relegations meant that the club had to compete in the A-class. In 1985 the new statutes of the association were adopted and the association was entered in the association register. In 1987 the coat of arms was introduced in its current form. In the 1990s a sporting upswing began and the club rose to the district class. In 1995 the SF Deizisau held the first international rapid chess open in Deizisau. This became a fixture in the tournament calendar and enjoyed increasing popularity. The tournament has been taking place under the name International Neckar Open since 1996 . As a result of the nationwide fame of the Neckar Open, the club recorded an increase in membership, which was also noticeable in terms of sport. In 2003 the team was promoted to the Württemberg / South Association League . In the 2011/12 season, the club's women's team was promoted to the women's national chess league, while the first team narrowly missed promotion to the second division. In the 2015/16 season, he was promoted to the second division south, where the championship was reached in the following season. The first team of the club entered the top division for the first time in the 2017/18 season. The women's team of the club continues to compete in the top division in the women's division.
