history

After SAL entered into a joint venture with the Japan-based shipping company "K" Line in 2007, SAL took over the company on June 30, 2011. At the beginning of 2012 the company renamed SAL Heavy Lift GmbH .

In July 2017, the company was sold to the Bremen shipping group Harren & Partner . SAL Heavy Lift then took over the operation of the heavy lift ships of the type CL 900 and the Combi-Dock ships from Harren & Partner.

In 2018, SAL Heavy Lift and the Dutch shipping company RollDock agreed to operate their dock ships in a joint fleet pool.

In action

The fleet currently includes 22 heavy lift vessels . The company's own ships were specially designed and built for the special requirements in the heavy lift sector at the JJ Sietas shipyard in Hamburg and are equipped with cranes from NMF (Neuenfelder Maschinenfabrik). With the delivery of the two type 183 ships ( Svenja , December 2010 and Lone , March 2011) , which together cost around 120 million euros , SAL Heavy Lift now has ships with cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 2000 tons.

The ships of the type 183 Svenja and Lone are 12,500 tons and equipped with Dynamic Positioning I and II. Like the smaller units in the fleet, they have a continuous deck, a continuous cargo space and a front body. This enables cargo to be transported even with very large dimensions in length, width and height. The high service speed of 20 knots ensures fast transport.
