Schorkendorf is a district of the Upper Franconian municipality of Ahorn in the Coburg district .

geography

Schorkendorf is located about five kilometers southwest of Coburg am Krebsbach, a source river of the Rodach . Communal roads connect the town with Eicha and Scheuerfeld . The federal highway 303 from Coburg to Schonungen leads south past Schorkendorf. The old town is in the east, with a larger new settlement area to the west. About 0.9 kilometers northwest of the center of Schorkendorf is located on the Krebsbach Krebsmühle .

history

Schorkendorf was first mentioned in a document on June 19, 1291 as a donation to Langheim Abbey. 1301 Schorkendorf had the place name "Schürkendorff". The place name probably goes back to a Wenden called Skorek. Thus the place was originally probably a Slavic settlement.

By 1400 the place of a court and four consisted Sölden . The ruler was the Hochstift Würzburg , the landlord and fiefdom of the Cistercian Abbey Langheim, represented by the Tambach monastery office. The Würzburg court in Seßlach was responsible for Schorkendorf.

In 1803 there were seven estates and three drip houses in Schorkendorf . Franconia became part of Bavaria in the same year and, in the course of secularization in Bavaria , the Langheim monastery was also dissolved. The merger of Schorkendorf and the larger Eicha led to the rural community Schorkendorf. Other districts were the hamlet of Ziegelhütte and the desert crab mill.

In 1925 the village had 113 inhabitants and 19 houses, the community 279 inhabitants. On April 1, 1931, the community was Schorkendorf with its districts from the district office Staffelstein in the district office Coburg incorporated.

On April 1, 1971, Schorkendorf was incorporated into Ahorn. In 1987 the village had 629 inhabitants and 159 houses with 227 apartments.
