Schreng Schreng & La La is an acoustic - Punk - Duo , founded in Dusseldorf. It consists of Jörkk Mechenbier from Love A and Lasse Paulus from the online magazine Crazewire.
Band history
Jörkk Mechenbier and Lasse Paulus founded their acoustic punk project in 2007 in the Dusseldorf shared apartment of their girlfriends at the time, through whom the two also met. This makes the duo older than Mechenbier's main band Love A, which was only founded three years later. In the first few years, the duo primarily served to foster friendship.
First, some songs were uploaded via Myspace . It wasn't until 2009 that the duo became a bit more professional. The first recordings on Soundcloud followed, as well as some appearances with friends such as the Canadian Juno Award winner Snailhouse . In 2011 the Berlusconi album followed on the Disentertainment label.
At the end of November 2011, a benefit 7inch was released on the initiative of the band, with the original version of The Cool Song by Norwegian artist Thomas Hansen on the A side and two cover versions by the duo and the Cologne songwriter Hello Piedpiper on the B side. The proceeds of this 7inch will benefit the St. Thomas Mindfond, a foundation for children and young people with mental health problems.
On April 22nd, 2016 the second album Echtholzstandby was finally released on the Hamburg independent label Rookie Records . The album was released in a digipak and a booklet with extensive liner notes . This was made possible by the support of the Hamburg Music Fund . A video was shot for the song Ekel & Abscheu , which positions itself against racism and homophobia , in which some familiar faces from the punk scene took part. These include Bastian Küllenberg ( intro editor), Ingo Knollmann ( Donots ), Felix Schönfuß ( Adam Angst ), Torsun Burkhardt ( Egotronic ), Tilman ( Tigeryouth ), Max Motherfucker ( Christmas ) and Jupiter Jones . The song became a minor hit on Facebook and was seen by around 25,000 people in its first few days.
The EP Alles muss brennen was released on March 29, 2019 . The title track pays homage to the former Cologne avant-garde band Trashboy, with whom Schreng Schreng & La La were on tour together in 2009 and 2010. With the EP, the two musicians try to draw attention to the subject of suicide, since trashboy singer Gunnar Baars took his own life in 2010. The four songs on Alles muss brennen were produced by Jupiter Jones guitarist Sascha Eigner.
style
While Jörkk Mechenbier takes on the vocals, Lasse Paulus is responsible for the acoustic guitar. Musical guests such as Karlsson and DFT singers Kilian “Svän” Bungert ( harmonica , keyboard ) and Oliver Züll ( drums ) are also represented on the real wood stand . Musically it is acoustic punk rock in the style of songwriters , but with a clear reference to punk, especially in the lyrics. Above all, consumer criticism is a recurring topic. Mechenbier's singing is a little softer than his rather angry, screaming style in Love A.
