Location of Schulenrode in Cremlingen
|
Schulenrode is the smallest town in the Cremlingen community in the Wolfenbüttel district in Lower Saxony . Bundesstrasse 1 runs north of the village .
Origin of name
The tribe schools- has the meaning of protecting, hiding and refers to an ancient Germanic verb * skūlijaną , which is also found in Dutch as schuilen and has become extinct in standard German. The ending -rode simply designates a clearing settlement , so that the meaning "hidden forest settlement" results.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1265 in a deed as Sculenrode . The place belongs to the villages with a clearing name . The Protestant parish church is a Gothic building to which a choir was added in the 15th century .
On March 1, 1974, Schulenrode was incorporated into the community of Cremlingen.
politics
The local council of Schulenrode consists of five seats, of which only four have been allocated: two to the CDU , one to the SPD and one from an independent MP .
The local mayor is Helmut Wolk (CDU) (as of 2017).
coat of arms
The Schulrode coat of arms has existed since 1989. It shows three green linden leaves on a white background in the upper part and a white tree stump in the green base of the shield. The tree stump points to Schulerode's origins as a clearing village, the linden leaves to the Lindenberg in the center of the village and the dense forest around Schulenrode. To distinguish it from the coats of arms of Weddel and Bornum , three linden leaves were chosen.
