Swan Kamal
Swan Kamal ( Kurdish شوان کەمال; * July 1, 1967 in Sulaimaniyya , Iraq ) is a Kurdish-German sculptor and draftsman.
Life
Schwan studied from 1982 to 1987 at the Sulaimaniyya Art Institute in the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan with Dara Hama Said and from 1988 to 1991 at the Art Academy of the University of Baghdad (Iraq) with Ismail Fatah Al Turk , Mohammed Ghani Hikmat and Salh Qaragoli .
He fled to Germany in 1995 for political reasons. From 1995 to 2000 Schwan worked at the art foundry Raimund Kittl , from 2000 to 2015 he worked as a model maker , moulder and chaser for Rolf Kayser in Düsseldorf . Under Kayser's direction, he implemented numerous sculptural projects in foundry work, including those by artists such as Tony Cragg , Thomas Schütte , Katharina Fritsch , Ulle Hees , Wilhelm Mundt , Hede Bühl , Paloma Varga Weisz , Pia Stadtbäumer , Johannes Brus , Bogomir Ecker , Ariane von Mauerstetten, Ingo Ronkholz, Carl Emanuel Wolff and Magdalena Abakanowicz . Schwan Kamal has lived and worked in Malmö , Sweden, since 2015 .
