The Schwarzenbrucker Moor is a nature reserve in Gsteinach , a district of Schwarzenbruck in the central Franconian district of Nürnberger Land .

location

The Schwarzenbrucker Moor nature reserve is located in a boiler-like former loop of the Schwarzach between Schwarzenbruck and Gsteinach.

description

The area has been a designated 10 hectare nature reserve since August 22, 1992  and has the cadastral number NSG500.042. The nature reserve is one of the few moors in Middle Franconia. On a small scale, open water areas and silting societies alternate here. For more than 30 years, the area was enclosed in a ring. This isolation cannot be compensated by the animal world. The area was cut off from groundwater inflows through construction work, which leads to increased siltation. Attempts are being made to stop this development through maintenance measures.

Flora and fauna

The Moor is a particularly valuable silting complex of natural ponds with Schwimmblatt- and underwater vegetation that is home to rare and endangered plant species such as snake root , Sumpflappenfarn and other Red List species of swamp forests, reed beds and large sedge Riede , the extended willows and old alder - swamp forests . The occurrence of the swamp calla and the grass snake should be emphasized . 16 types of dragonflies have been identified. The peat floors are up to a meter thick.
