The Schwengeberg is 556.7  m above sea level. NHN the highest elevation of the Langenberge in the southeastern Habichtswälder Bergland in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district .

location

The Schwengeberg is located in the Habichtswald Nature Park in the central part of the Langenberge. Along with its nearly 1 km from the southern neighboring peak, the overflow head ( 534.8  m ), it rises on the eastern interface of the district Gudensbergs to Edermünde (both Schwalm-Eder-Kreis ) and on the watershed between Eder and Lower Fulda or . EMS and Bauna .

Schwengeberg and Laufskopf lie in the center of the continuous forest of the Langenberge between Schauenburg - Hoof in the north, Baunatal - Großenritte in the east and Niedenstein in the south-west.

The source of the Bauna tributary Leisel lies on the northeast slope of the Schwengeberg , and that of the Ems tributary Matzoff on the southwest slope of the Laufkopf .

Natural allocation

The Schwengeberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group West Hessisches Bergland (No. 34), in the main unit Habichtswälder Bergland (342) and in the subunit Habichtswald (with Langenberg) (342.0) to the natural area Langenberg (342.02).

Neighboring mountains

The ridge of the Langenberg continues north to the Saukopf and south over the Bensberg ( 464.8  m ) and the Bilstein (approx.  460  m ) to the Kammerberg ( 360.8  m ). The 439.6  m high castle hill west of Großenrittes can be seen as the eastern branch of the Schwengeberg.
