The Matzoff is a 7 km long, northeast and left tributary of the Ems . It runs in the urban area of Niedenstein in the Habichtswald Nature Park , Schwalm-Eder-Kreis , North Hesse ( Germany ).
course
The Matzoff rises on the western flank of the Langenberge . Its source is in the district of Ermetheis , an eastern Niedenstein district, between the Laufskopf ( 534.8 m above sea level ) in the northeast and the Niedensteiner Kopf ( 475 m ) in the west-northwest at an altitude of around 362 m .
After leaving Ermetheis, the Matzoff flows south through a valley partly lined with forest, into which the Elsterbach , flowing from the northeast, first joins; the latter comes from the eastern edge of Ermetheis and is fed by the sand source and a stream from the Elsterloch . Shortly afterwards, a stream coming from Niedenstein joins from the northwest. Then the Matzoff runs through the Metze district of Niedenstein , where two more streams flow into it. The second is the Landgrafenborn which flows from the Landgrafenborn located on the Kammerberg ( 360.8 m ) .
Then the Matzoff runs directly outside the Habichtswald Nature Park - leaving the Langenberge - west-southwest to and through the Kirchberg district of Niedenstein on the Wartberg . Even in this village , it flows into the Eder tributary Ems , which flows from the north-west, at around 188 m above sea level, running again in the nature park for the last few meters .
Natural allocation
The Matzoff arises in the sub-unit Hinterhabichtswälder Kuppen (342.2) belonging to the natural spatial main unit group West Hessian mountain and sink country (No. 34) and the main unit Habichtswälder Bergland (342 ).
