Scott Parker (born January 29, 1978 in Hanford , California ) is a former American ice hockey player who played 313 games for the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League in the course of his active career between 1995 and 2008 Has contested the position of the right winger . Parker, of the type of player the Enforcers personified, won in the service of the Colorado Avalanche in 2001 the Stanley Cup .

Career

Parker began his career in the Western Hockey League with the Kelowna Rockets . After a decent rookie season with seven points and 159 penalty minutes in 64 games he chose the New Jersey Devils in the NHL Entry Draft in 1996 out in the third round of the 63rd place. The Californian then spent the next two years in Kelowna. In the 1997/98 season he posted career highs in the categories goals, assists and points. Since the Devils had not offered him a contract by then, Parker was in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft for the second time. This time the Colorado Avalanche selected him in the first round in position 20 and took him under contract.

In the 1998/99 season Parker was for the first time in the National Hockey League on the ice, but remained pointless in a total of 27 games. The American spent the end of the season and the entire following with the Avalanche farm team , the Hershey Bears , before playing the entire 2000/01 regular season and the start of the playoffs again in the NHL. There he won the Stanley Cup with Colorado that year . Another two seasons followed in Colorado until he was transferred to the San Jose Sharks on June 21, 2003 for a fifth-round draft pick in his home state of California . On March 11, 2006, Parker was suspended for two games because he wanted to jump over the Plexiglas gang between the team benches during a game against the Nashville Predators to beat defenseman Brendan Witt .

After numerous minor injuries and only a few stakes in the 2006/07 season , the San Jose Sharks transferred him back to the Colorado Avalanche on February 27, 2007. There he first spent the entire 2007/08 season and was used there a little more regularly than last time in San Jose. After the management of the Avalanche decided in November 2008 that Parker should appear again after a recovered injury in the American Hockey League with the Lake Erie Monsters , he refused. The Avalanche then terminated the contract with the striker due to insubordination . After spending over a season as a clubless player, Parker declared his playing career ended in September 2009.

Parker, who was very limited in his style of play and was considered an enforcer , was praised by his teammates primarily for his team-friendly character.
