Sebastian Aho (* 17th February 1996 in Umeå ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who, since July 2017 the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League is under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League for Use comes.

Career

In his youth, Sebastian Aho went through the junior departments of IF Björklöven before moving to the traditional club Skellefteå AIK for the 2011/12 season. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he was regularly used for the J20 of the club in the J20 SuperElit , the highest junior league in Sweden, while he made his debut in a game for the men's selection in the Elitserien and thus in the professional area. There he was regularly on the ice from the 2013/14 season and became Swedish champion with the team in the same year .

In the 2017 NHL Entry Draft , Aho was selected in 139th position by the New York Islanders , who provided the Swedes with an entry-level contract a little later . He was then used with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League (AHL) before he was appointed to the Islanders' squad for the first time in December 2017 and subsequently made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL).

International

At international level, Aho won the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2013 with Sweden's U17 selection . He then took part in the U18 World Championships in 2013 and 2014 and in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2013 , where he missed the medal ranks with the teams as well as with the U20 national team of Sweden at the U20 World Cup 2015 . The defender also made his debut for the senior national team in his home country as part of the Euro Hockey Tour 2016/17.
