Fassmer BL 20 is the shipyard name of a series of nautical sign ships of the Fassmer shipyard in Berne / Motzen, of which a total of five ships were built for the waterways and shipping authorities in Lübeck and Stralsund .

history

The ships were ordered from Ms. Fassmers by the Mechanical Engineering North department and built from 1997 to 1999. The shipowner is the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS). Two of the ships are subordinate to the Lübeck Waterways and Shipping Office, three to the Stralsund Waterways and Shipping Office.

commitment

The ships are used for laying out, retrieving and checking floating sea signs as well as for traffic supervision , safety and control in the area of responsibility of the waterways and shipping authorities in Lübeck and Stralsund in the Baltic Sea . They are also used to transport people and materials as well as hydraulic engineering and hydrological work.

Due to the 6,100 liters of fuel, the ships have a range of 900  nautical miles .

Technical data and equipment

The ships are powered by a six - cylinder four - stroke diesel engine made by MTU Friedrichshafen (type: 6 R 183 TE) with an output of 267  kW at a maximum speed of 1800 rpm. The motor acts via a fully modulatable Twin Disc MG 514M gearbox on a fixed propeller with a diameter of 90 cm. The ships reach a speed of 10  knots .

A shaft generator with 35  kVA apparent power and a diesel generator with 45 kVA apparent power are available for the power supply.

The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with 42 kW power. The hull is reinforced with ice . The ships are classified with ice class "E".

In the stern area there is a work deck of around 42 m². A Palfinger PK 13000 M working crane is located here on the starboard side of the ships. The crane's lifting capacity is 1.7 t with a 4 m extension. With a maximum extension of 10.30 m, 600 kg can still be lifted.

The ships are designed for operation with up to five crew members . At the waterway and shipping offices, they are driven by two crew members. An additional crew member is on board for crane work.
