The Kammermark glider airfield is an airfield in the north-west of Brandenburg . The operator is the Flugplatzgemeinschaft Pritzwalk-Kammermark GbR (FPK), which is made up of representatives from the Academic Aviation Association Berlin and Akaflieg .
terrain
The airfield is located about six kilometers north of the town of Pritzwalk on the road towards Preddöhl near the Kammermark settlement. It lies in an east-west orientation at a height of 88 m (289 ft ) MSL and covers an area of 1100 × 200 meters. As a grass field, it has two unpaved runways and a winch towing track.
The special airfield Pritzwalk-Sommersberg EDBU is located about two kilometers to the southeast .
Admission
The place is approved for the operation of gliders in winch and aircraft tow launch , motor gliders and ultralight aircraft (UL). Motorized aircraft with a maximum take-off mass of up to 2 t may take off and land in connection with aircraft tows. The powered aerodrome circuit is north at 1000 ft MSL (700 ft for ULs).
Radio frequency
The airfield's VHF radio frequency is 123.505 MHz; The first name of the ground station is "Kammermark Start".
Investments
To the side of the glider hangar there is an extension to the hangar, which is mainly used for the hangar of powered planes. The clubhouse with flight preparation and training room, kitchen and bedrooms is located in the former manor house. The workshop and vehicle hangar are in a former barn, and there are parking spaces for glider trailers under towed roofs.
Infrastructure
Start winch
On the Segelfluggelände next to a winch of the type Tost is on a Magirus-Deutz Sirius - Chassis stationed a twin-drum-house development of Akaflieg Berlin. This was parallel to B13 from the middle of the 1980s, using a ten-cylinder - the diesel engine with 320 hp (235 kW ) of Daimler-Benz . The starter winch, which was put into operation in 1994, is mounted on a three-axle, all-wheel-drive Tatra 148 , which was used by the NVA air forces as an airfield tank tender until 1990 . In 2004, the 1000 meters of steel rope per drum were replaced with plastic ropes after the emergency cut-off device and inlet channels were modified .
Flight operations
During the gliding season from the beginning of April to the end of October, flight operations take place on the weekends.
Flight training
Both clubs at the site cooperate in training for the pilot's license for glider pilots (SPL - Sailplane Pilot License or LAPL (S) - Light Aircraft Pilot License (Sailplanes)) and the additional authorization for touring motor gliders (TMG - Touring Motor Glider). The flight training is completed on three two-seater gliders Grob G 103, the single-seater LS4, Discus, ASW 24 and a motor glider SF 25 C. In flight instructor courses in 1994, 1997, 1998 and 2000, the majority of aspirants from the new federal states were trained to become glider flight instructors . Training courses such as the Hertel course are offered every September .
Events
Every three years the airfield is the venue for the Schimmelcup - the prototype comparison flight of the academic flying groups . In 2001, the federal youth comparison flight took place in the state of Brandenburg for the first time. In 2013, the Academic Aviation Association hosted the second Berlin gliding championship. Students from the Technical University of Berlin complete an internship in gliding and experimental flying in Kammermark .
history
After about thirty years as a guest at the Braunschweig-Waggum and “Großes Moor” airfields near Ehlershausen , the Berlin Academic Aviation Group looked for a flight closer to Berlin after the end of the German division in 1989. During several exploratory trips - including a visit to the Stölln / Rhinow airfield , where the Berlin Akaflieg flew at the beginning of the 1920s - it was not possible to agree on a cooperation anywhere with the operators of existing airfields. In the former Pritzwalk estate , around 130 kilometers from Berlin, a site was finally found that the city administration had already planned for the construction of an airfield. On April 1, 1993, a lease was signed and the rest of the year was spent on the airfield facilities and the move from Lower Saxony. The operating permit took place on March 30, 1994; the first take-off on April 2nd, 1994. From 1996 to 1998 a motor hangar was built, adjacent to the sheepfold converted into an aircraft hangar.
