Seito Yamamoto ( Japanese 山 本 聖 途 , Yamamoto Seito ; born March 11, 1992 in Okazaki ) is a Japanese pole vaulter .

Athletic career

Seito Yamamoto gained his first international experience at the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated from the qualification without a valid level . The following year he won the silver medal behind the American Sam Kendricks at the Summer Universiade with 5.60 m . He also qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where he finished sixth with 5.75 m. He then won the East Asian Games in Tianjin with 5.50 m. In 2014 he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon for the first time and did not cross any height.

In 2015 he won the silver medal behind the Chinese Zhang Wei at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 5.50 m . So he qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 5.65 m in qualification . In 2016 he won the silver medal behind Huang Bokai from China at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha with 5.60 m . He then took part in the World Indoor Championships in Portland and was there with 5.55 m tenth. In the summer he qualified again for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated again without a valid level in the qualification . At the 2017 World Championships in London , he was eliminated from qualifying with 5.30 . In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and won there with 5.70 m. The following year he finished seventh at the Asian Championships in Doha with 5.51 m. He also took part in the World Championships , which also took place in Doha, where he was eliminated from qualifying with 5.60 m .

In 2012 and 2013, as well as 2017 and 2018, Yamamoto became the Japanese champion in pole vault.
