The district of Sengenthal am Anger belongs to the municipality of Sengenthal in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .
location
The place, which consists of about 75 houses, is located at the foot of the Upper Palatinate Jura , on federal road 299 and near the historic Ludwig Canal . The Nuremberg – Regensburg railway runs right past the settlement .
history
Until the Second World War, Sengenthal am Anger did not exist in its current form. This district was not settled until the displaced persons and the construction of the settler houses in the 1960s, mainly for workers in the cement works. The operator of the cement works provided incentives for this through cheap land and free concrete.
The name addition on the Anger was given to the newly founded settlement because there was previously grassland there that was used as pasture.
economy
This district became known above all through the large industrial plants of Georg Behringer KG and the associated Winnberg quarry . Although the concrete plant was closed in 1986, the townscape is dominated by the two huge remaining concrete silos.
Another company is Holzammer Kunststofftechnik GmbH , a company that produces injection molds for medical devices, among other things. The company started in 1948 with a carpenter's workshop, which has gradually developed from mold construction to the most modern processing methods for medical devices. The company now has around 160 employees.
