Seren Sahin (born April 29, 1989 in Munich ) is a German film producer , actor and web video producer of Turkish descent.

Life

The graduate in business administration (B.Sc.) and economics (B.Sc) from the University of Augsburg has been studying production and media management at the Munich University of Television and Film (HFF Munich) since 2019 .

At the age of 15, Sahin had his first leading role in a short film called security measures . In 2011 he got the lead role of Cem in the short film Clash . This role as a German-Turk was very well received in the Turkish media in 2012. In March 2012 the Turkish satellite channel Kanal D mentioned Sahin's success. In addition, the film Clash received the award for the best screenplay at the Bavarian Youth Film Festival 2012.

Sahin works closely with the German director Kai Sitter .

In September 2012 he played the main role of Emre in the film Üç . The film was shot in Munich and Istanbul . In February 2012, Clash was nominated as “best short film” at the Berlin Independent Film Festival . As part of the 66th Cannes Film Festival , he was seen in the "Short Film Corner". In April 2013, Turkish newspapers and Kanal D reported appreciatively about Sahin and the first presentation of Üç in Munich. Furthermore, this film was nominated in September 2013 for the “ Day of Talents ” in Berlin, on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research , and for the German Young Talent Award 2013 at the up-and-coming film festival in November 2013 in Hanover .

Another short film that Sahin starred in was In the Gallery . He also co-produced this film. The project was realized in August 2013 in Munich . The main focus of the film is on the relationships between five different characters, their encounters in an enclosed space and the interaction with one another. In this film, alongside actors like Nadia Hilker , Ilona Grandke , Barbara Dussler , actress from the Münchner Kammerspiele and Felix Strobel , actor from the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin , he embodied the main role of Thalall. The film celebrated its premiere in May 2014 in Berlin at the Moviemento and Babylon Cinema . The gallery has received positive feedback in Turkish cinema magazines and newspapers.

In 2014 Sahin produced the short film Still Life , in which he is also an actor alongside Stefan Murr . The film shows the last steps in the life of a man who sees the world and his existence on the edge. He embarks on an intense journey that he knows there is no going back. He meets a man who helps him to fulfill his last wish. The film was screened at the International Youth Short Film Festival Italy , Cluj Shorts International Short Film Festival Romania , NW Short Film Festival Canada and 5th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival in March and April 2015 . In May 2015 it ran at the Maryland International Film Festival in the USA . In the same month he celebrated an international success with the "Remi Award" in gold at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival .

Sahin played at the Münchner Kammerspiele in the play Der Fall Meursault - a counterstatement by the Iranian director Amir Reza Koohestani, based on the novel by Kamel Daoud . In addition, he played in the play América by director Stefan Pucher .

In 2017, Sahin starred in the medium-length film Stranded by Kai Sitter . The film is about "new arrivals" in Germany - how refugees feel in Germany, how they are received and how they deal with it. In 2019 he produced the medium-length feature film Gefangen . It celebrated its premiere in March 2020 at the Regensburg Short Film Week .
