The SheBelieves Cup is an invitation tournament for women's national soccer teams to which the US soccer association first invited teams from Germany , England and France in 2016 . These teams also participated in 2017 and 2018. Since Germany and France are preparing for the World Cup in Europe in 2019, while England participated again, Brazil and Japan have been invited for the 2019 edition . The tournament took place from 2016 to 2020 at the same time as the Algarve Cup , the most important invitation tournament in international women's football up until then, the Cyprus Cup and the Istria Cup (2016 and 2017). In 2020, the Tournoi de France , in which France and Brazil participated , also took place in parallel .
