The four-nation tournament in China is an invitation-only tournament for national teams in women's football and has been held in January or February since 2002, with another tournament taking place in autumn since 2016. Forerunner is a 1998 in Guangzhouplayed tournament. The record winner is host China with eight titles, ahead of the USA, which last participated in 2011, with seven titles. The Chinese only won the tournament if the Americans did not participate. Apart from Norway, no team could win the tournament when the USA participated. Brazil, Canada and North Korea, like China, could only win in the absence of the US team. After 2011, with the decline in status of the Chinese team, the importance of the tournament continued to decline as the best teams stopped participating or were not invited.
For 2012 the dates of a tournament with five participants were first published, but in the end it was played again with four teams, but no teams in the top 5 of the FIFA world rankings took part and 2012 was also the first year in which no reigning continental champions took part . Two four-nation tournaments have taken place since 2016, first in January 2016 in Shenzhen and 2017 in Foshan and then in October each in Yongchuan - 2016 as the “Sincere Cup”. In 2019, the tournaments took place in January and April in preparation for the World Cup.

With the exception of 2019, each team played against each of the other three teams. The winner is the team with the most points. In the event of a tie, the goal difference and then the direct comparison decides. In 2019 there were two semi-finals as well as the final of the semi-final winners and the third place of the semi-final losers.
