Shimohei-gun (Iwate)
Shimohei ( Japanese 下 閉 伊 郡 , - gun ) is a district in northeastern Iwate Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .
In 2017 the district covered an area of 1,481.02 km²; the estimated population was 30,983, the population density therefore around 21 inhabitants / km².
The two village parishes of Fudai and Tanohata and the two cities of Iwaizumi and Yamada have belonged to the district since 2014 .

Shimo-Hei, ie "sub-Hei", created in 1897 by the union of the circles Kita (North), Naka- (Central) and Higashi-Hei (East Hei), this previously in 1879 by the division of the circle Hei from Mutsu or Rikuchū ("Middle Mutsu") . South and West Hei became Kami-Hei ("Upper Hei").
